    In Struthers, we are a team. And we are a team that wants to win. Think of a comprehensive plan as a city's playbook.

    Under Mayor Miller's administration, the City of Struthers has set out to create its first comprehensive plan that will establish a framework to guide growth and development in the city of Struthers over the next ten years, and we want to involve the community in as many ways as possible, in policy and in specific projects. The community has named this plan Discover Struthers, and we need your help.

    Do you want to have a say in the future of your city? Then let's roll up our sleeves, Struthers!


    Why is comprehensive planning important?

    The comprehensive plan provides a framework for which to pursue projects and funding, and will provide guidance for evaluating policies, programs, and zoning changes in Struthers. The adoption of the plan effectively:

    • Guides City administration, City staff, and other elected and appointed officials to make decisions that respond to the long-term needs and desires of the community;
    • Informs businesses, developers, nonprofit organizations, and other entities that operate and wish to operate in the City of Struthers of future plans, policies, and relevant priorities;
    • Communicates the shared vision with the community so that they can hold decision makers accountable for making decisions in alignment with the plan and taking tangible action to realize the plan;
    • And lastly, a comprehensive planning effort puts the community's voice in government

    Why community engagement?

    Because we can't do it without you. You live Struthers every day. You are the experts.

    An effective community engagement process invites community members like yourself to participate in the planning process in a way that is accessible to them. This process will create a plan that is not imposed on a community, but built by the community it is intended to serve.

    What is this platform?

    This platform helps us to keep a continuous dialogue going throughout the comprehensive planning process. Whether you're a resident, business owner, student, or worker, you can leave an idea or ask a question at any time to start a dialogue and process on this platform.

    If you have an idea of how we can use this platform to better involve you or certain target groups, please let us know via this platform. And who knows, maybe your proposal will be placed on the platform soon!

    What can we expect?

    We'll begin with a visioning process. This will get the creative juices flowing and help us identify themes, priorities, and projects around which to focus the planning effort. We'll add more engagement activities incrementally, including surveys, polls, and mapping activities to collect feedback on various topics including parks and greenspace, transportation and mobility, and the future of downtown.

    We'll also post information about offline engagement events, activities, and workshops as they become available.
