Thank you for your idea, Brian. We also see the need for a space where dogs can run off leash, to play and explore with other dogs at their own pace. Please provide more detail about any specific locations you have in mind that would be best suited for a dog park.

I also love the idea of a dog park in Struthers. I actually along with Chief Bundy was trying to make that happy 2 years ago during my Presidency of the Struthers Rotary. Unfortunately it did not get approved, but the new disc golf course at Mauthe Park was my approved project under my presidency. I am an animal lover, breeder, groomer and rescuer. If this project gets to go to the next level/step, please consider to to be on the committee. I have already done a lot of leg work, and I can go back and see if I still have any of the fencing quotes.

@Darla Donahue Your knowledge and experience would be greatly appreciated, Darla! I will add "Dog Park" under the citizen initiatives project so you and others can express interest in volunteering to plan, organize, and implement. Please see "Volunteer or express interest in different citizen initiatives" and click "I want to volunteer" to sign up!

I love the idea of a dog park! What about at the old Sexton Street School grassed area...by the tennis courts. There is already adjacent parking. A walkway from the lot to the park would need to be added but it seems like the space is already far along for a project like this.

@Josh Miely I’m not sure if the city owns that property, but if they do, that could be a very good location.

@Josh Miely Thanks for your location suggestion, Josh! Although I don't play tennis regularly myself, I do have a dog and it makes me think the combination of dogs and bouncing tennis balls could be a chaotic mix. Any tennis players that can offer feedback about playing near dogs or a dog park?

Thank you for your idea, Brian! A dog park is a great way for dogs and their humans alike to spend time outside, meet neighbors, and socialize. Are there any particular spots you have in mind?
