Thank you for your idea, Michael! Ensuring the city's sidewalks are accessible is a high priority, and absolutely necessary in creating equitable mobility options and a walkable Struthers.
We will soon put up a map on which citizens can tag specific locations of sidewalks that are in disrepair. We hope you'll participate – seeing the data in this format will help us create an action plan to address this issue.

If the city wants to strive to go into a modern direction, it can't forget about the infrastructure it already has that makes some of these ideas possible.
Many of the city's sidewalks have not been touched in decades, some perhaps even being Works Progress Administration projects from the 1930s.
It would be an expensive endeavor but it is something that will need to be addressed if the city wants to be a walkable one.

Hi all, we've put up a project where you can submit your feedback to increase connectivity and mobility in Struthers. See "Submit your feedback for a walkable, bikeable Struthers". You can tag specific locations that need attention and use the tagging system to identify the issue/need. Several are talking about making downtown a walkable area but each spring when the planters of flowers are put out they are placed in the center of the sidewalks ? Able bodied people go around but anyone in a wheelchair or on a motorized scooter can not utilize the sidewalk. Cement pads need made to move the planters so the sidewalks are accessible to everyone.

@Michael Burich many of the areas downtown are not accessible. Steps to get in and out, difficult to get across the tracks, second floor events and no elevators or lifts. Frequently this is overlooked.

I agree. Our sidewalks are in dire need. I suggested that we take the time to edge them and cut the weeds out of the expansion joints and simply give them a good sweeping. As this was being worked on there could be an assessment done of where there is the most need. Also, by doing this kind of work on the walks, we would help with the deterioration from the weed growth. We also could assess the trees in the devil’s strip. See the post call EDGE Struthers. I am more than willing to organize an “adopt a mile” program to cover the entire city the best we can. It is good to know that there are others seeing that the sidewalks are in need of attention. Thank you!

Well said. The side walks in the NEBO section are horrendous.
