Help us get more people involved by joining a planning committee
A proper community engagement process will create a plan that is not imposed on a community, but built by the community it is intended to serve. Different populations have different needs and desires for the place they call home.
For example, youth and seniors do not have the same recreational needs. Small business owners and young parents may have a different vision for downtown. So, we need everyone at the table to make sure that the future of Struthers represents the whole community.
That is why we have formed engagement committees, which represent different stakeholder groups.
The members of the engagement committees have the responsibility of increasing participation in the planning process among their respective communities. Committee members are ambassadors of the plan, and of the communities they represent.
If you are excited about the plan and want to get more people involved to make sure the future of Struthers is equitable and representative of all, then you sound like a great candidate to join an engagement committee!
As a committee member, you are expected to:
- Be an ambassador of the Discover Struthers comprehensive plan
- Connect the community with plan-related activities
- Connect the community to this online engagement hub
- Seek to understand the needs of the community
- Participate in offline engagement activities
- Attend committee meetings when necessary
Note: each committee is chaired by one individual who is responsible for representing their respective communities in the decision-making process.
If you are interested in joining a committee, please browse the list of committees below and select "I want to volunteer" on the committee that best represents your interests!
